In what marked as a major milestone for Madhya Pradesh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently inaugurated the commercial operations of the Indore Metro Rail Project Phase 1 virtually. The newly operational 5.8 km elevated corridor connects Gandhinagar Station and Station No. 3 of the Super Corridor. This project is a major step in improving urban mobility and sustainable infrastructure in the state. 

A New Era of Urban Mobility in Madhya Pradesh

Part of mass rapid transit system (MRTS), the Indore Metro Rail Project caters to a population of around 35 lakhs. The first phase of this project –

  • includes a 5.8 km viaduct (elevated corridor) and 5 elevated stations from Gandhinagar to Super Corridor Station 3,
  • boosts regional connectivity,
  • reduces traffic congestion, and
  • directly improves quality of life, and supporting the city’s growth in the years to come.
