Rehabilitation, Automation, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition of Bhagirathi Water Treatment Plant

Delhi, India

Project Description

The 455 MLD Bhagirathi Water Treatment Plant (WTP) was originally designed by Assystem in India in the 1980s to treat water from the Upper Ganga Canal. The WTP’s residual recycle system, consisting of thickener, sludge drying beds and centrifuges, was also designed by us in 2007.

In 2010-11, the Assystem in India team was once again called on to provide consultancy services for the rehabilitation and automation of the entire plant. The works included replacement of all major electro-mechanical equipment, repair and rehabilitation of major civil structures, and installation of instruments within the WTP and at inlet and outlet of all its reservoirs to facilitate SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition) in order to automate the process of gathering and measuring the quantity and quality of water supplied.
